It is the largest artificial lake in the country, created in 1968 by the Rapel hydroelectric center. It is formed by the confluence of the Cachapoal and Tinguiririca rivers contained by a
dam. This is a warm weather zone, ideally suited for practicing water sports, relaxation, and entertainment. Recreational activity is almost completely concentrated on the southern shore of
the Chachapoal inlet. Most of the campgrounds, lodging, and private clubs are located in this area as well. This lake is located approximately 140 km. (87.5 mi) from Santiago. You can arrive
by the "Del Sol" highway or from Rancagua.
