El Colorado Ski Center

El Colorado is located in the Metropolitan Region, only 39 km. away from Santiago. Its maximum altitude is 3.333 mts. with an incline of 903 mts, and a skiable area of a thousand hectares. The center receives short but abundant snowfalls, with an average of 5 mts. of snow in a normal year. El Colorado also has a snowmaking system to guarantee skiing throughout the season.
Along with La Parva and Valle Nevado, these centers form the largest and best ski area in South America.

Basic Information
Close to the complex you will find Farellones and El Colorado villages. Both offer great accommodation options, namely Colorado Apart Hotel and Posada Farellones Hotel. The latter was one of the first hotels built in the area in the 40's. The complex also offers restaurants, cafeterias, discotheques, transportation, medical center, skiing school, and equipment rental, among other services.Location

How to get there
Leave Santiago towards the West (Kennedy Ave. and Las Condes Ave.) and take the road to Farellones. It is paved and is 35km to Farellones. From there, it is 5 more kilometeres to El Colorado. The traffic is controlled by the police and the use of snow chains is compulsory. From 8:00 to 14:00 the traffic goes uphill; from 14:00 to 20:00 it only goes downhill.

The highest skiable point in El Colorado is 3.333 mts. above sea level, and the minimum is 2.,430 mts, with an incline of 903 mts.
The skiable area covers over 40 kms, with 70 tracks for beginners, advanced, and expert. The longest track is 4.3 km. and all of them are maintained with automatized equipment. The center has 18 lifts: 2 double chairs, 3 triple chairs, 12 surface lifts, and 2 for children, covering an distance of 15,6 kms.
