Los Arenales Ski Center is located in the IXth region, among araucaria forests, and surrounded by stunning landscapes. There, you can witness the presence of a great variety of animals, such as foxes, rabbits, hares, and condors. From the ski tracks you can also see several volcanoes of southern Chile. During summer and spring seasons you can practice climbing, mountaineering, horseback riding, mountainbiking, and also take photographic circuits

Location
8 km east of Lonquimay, Araucanía Region.

When to go
In winter season, from mid-June to mid-October. In summer, from December to March.

How to get there
Coming from the north, take ruta 5 Sur up to Victoria exit. From that point to Lonquimay it is about 120 km, passing by Victoria, Curacautín, Manzanar, Malalcahuello, and Las Raíces tunnel. From Lonquimay, drive 8 km east through road to Cordillera Las Raíces highway.
From Temuco, take the ruta 5 Sur up to Lautaro and then up to Curacautín. From this point keep going until Lonquimay and the ski center.

Los Arenales Ski Center offers equipment rental service, cafeteria, restaurant, and guides for nearby excursions. Its refuge, Los Arenales, has a capacity of 32 people in rooms with bunk beds for 4 or 6 people, it is decorated in wood, and has all the necessary facilities skiers and mountain climbers may need.

Trails and Lifts


Los Arenales Ski Center has randonnée and cross country skiing fields with 4 platter lifts: 2 for beginners school, one single chair lift, and one high speed double chair lift, with an altitude of 1250 meters. It also has six tracks, all of which are surrounded by native vegetation; one of them goes through an araucaria forest. The skiable surface is divided in three areas: 35% beginner, 35% intermediate, 30% expert.
