Basic Information
It is located on the mountain slopes of the Metropolitan Region, at 3025 meters (9,922 ft.) above sea level, and 60 km. (37 miles) from Santiago International Airport. Valle Nevado boasts a skiable area of 9000 hectares (21,600 acres) with 37 km. of tracks for skiers of all levels, from beginner to expert.Â
For snowboarding fanatics, Valle Nevado is the most modern mountain center in Latin America. Concerned about maintaning its high standards, it boasts a Snow Park and a Half Pipe, both of which are excellent choices for practicing freestyle. Actually, Valle Nevado's Half Pipe is the only one in Chile which is recognised by the International Skiing Federation.Â
The mountains that surround Valle Nevado are home to a great variety of animals, some of which are permanent residents, and others that are occasional visitors. Among the native birds, you can find the cóndor, which appears in our national shield.Â

How to get there
Leaving Santiago towards the East (Kennedy Ave. and Las Condes Ave.), take the road to Farellones. It is paved road; after 32km there is an exit towards Valle Nevado, 2 km. before Farellones. From there, it is another 14 km. to the ski center.
Traffic is controlled by the police and snow chains are compulsory.
Between 8:00 and 14:00 traffic only goes up, and between 14:00 and 20:00 it only goes down.

Tracks and Lifts
Valle Nevado has a skiable area of 9 thousand hectares, 158 of which correspond to groomed runs. There is a total 39 tracks, with a length of over 37 km. The highest skiable point is the summit of Tres Puntas, at a height of 3.670 mts. and the lowest is at 2.860 mts.
The center is equipped with 19 snow making machines, covering over 6 kms of slopes, guaranteeing the practice of skiing throughout the season.
According to their difficulty level, the tracks are classified by colours: green for beginners (14%), blue for intermediates (30%), red for advanced (42%) and black for experts (14%).
For snowboarders, Valle Nevado has two special runs: Half Pipe and Border Cross with La Escondidalift.
