Quinamávida Hot Springs
The Quinamavida Hot Springs, which means "five hills" in the Mapuche language, is located about 10 miles (16 km) Northeast of Linares in Región del Maule, near the shores of Lake Colbún.
Â
According to a legend, the source of the springs was discovered by a woodsman that was surrounded by a forest fire and, because he was in the water and protected by the vapor, he managed to survive without suffering any injuries.
Â
At one time these waters were exported to Europe as mineral water for drinking and they were hardly ever used as a tourist resource. Nowadays, modern deals on hotel stays and improvements in infrastructure have changed the situation, turning these springs into one of the most popular across the region.
