With an surface area of 2,500 hectares, Lake Elizalde is the most well known lake in the Aysén Region. It is part of a group of five lakes draining towards West, to Puerto Aysén. You can reach this place through a gravel road.

Lake Elizalde measures an average of 25. km in length and 2 km. width and it is surrounded by dense forests of Chiloé's Coigue and Lenga Beech. Its features make it an ideal location for recreational activities that allow to explore the area, do some sport fishing, horseback riding or bike excursions. There's also a camping area where you can also find refuge, and a small lodging house called "La Cascada".

Near the west shore of the lake there is lake Caro. Both can be toured in small vessels.

How to get there
Santiago-Coyhaique: by airplane, by boat (until reching Puerto Chacabuco), and public or private land transportation. From Coyhaique take the road heading to Balmaceda, at kilometer 17 take the detour going to Villa Simpson. 11 kilometers (6.8 mi) after that you will reach destination.
