Coyhaique is located on the foot of hill Macay and was built around its 5 sided square, created to recall the shape of Carabinero's shield, and... to disorientate people. The city is the starting point of all tours in the region of Aysén. In its surroundings you will find attractions like Cerro El Fraile Ski Center, Lake Elizalde, and Cerro Castillo National Reserve. 120 km. away from the city there is Puerto Aysén, set on the shores of Aysén river, near Río Simpson National Reserve. This is the departure place of most expeditions to San Rafael Lagoon.
