DESCRIPTION
For five days you will travel through the stunning Cocham贸 Valley, walking 4 to 6 hours per day carrying only a 5k/11lb daypack, while the rest of the equipment will be taken by load horses guided by local skinners.

5hrs/9km/5.6mi/350mts drop The group heads to Cocham贸, a town located in the Reloncavi Estuary, the first fjord in all Patagonia. There you'll meet the local guide, load the horses and begin the trek through a valley covered with vegetation, that offers spectacular views of granite walls. Once you've settled in Cocham贸 refuge, in Las Juntas area, you can explore the area or just swim in the river while waiting for the dinner to be ready. BL-D

7hrs/3km/2.5mi/900mts drop At dawn, you'll be surrounded by granite mountains. Then, you'll ascend to 900mts, going through ma帽io, coig眉e, alerce and lenga trees. After walking for 5 hours and climbing 2 fixed ropes (easy and safe to do) you will be in the highlands of Cocham贸 Valley, with breathtaking views of the valley and the granite walls. After a nice lunch you will walk back to the refuge to enjoy a hot shower and a delicious homemade pizza to end the day. B-BL-D

6hrs/8,5km/5.3mi/350mts ascent As you go up the valley you will get different views of it. You will cross rivers, see old alerce rodales and pass by a very peculiar rock formation called El Arco (The Arch). Free afternoon to rest and explore. B-BL-D

6hrs/8,5km/5.3mi/350mts descent Today you'll take a new route back to Las Juntas to check some beautiful waterfalls. You will cross rivers and walk through ancient forests, where the path is sometimes hidden. Only a few know this old route, which is mainly used by local people to reach Las Juntas. During the hike you will have different views of the valley. Finally, in Las Juntas you'll go back to Cocham贸 refuge and have a special dinner to celebrate your last day in Cocham贸. B-BL-D

4hrs/9km/5.6mi/350mts descent After a big breakfast you will start heading back to Puerto Varas. You鈥檒l walk for 9k/5.5mi downhill and reach the road, where a van will be waiting for you to take you to Puerto Varas. As an alternative there's the possibility of hiring horses to ride back. - Bilingual Guide (Spanish-English) accredited by Wilderness First Response, guide of the National Mountain School with wide experience in trekking and long trips.
