Chile : Hot Springs Guide : Panimavida Hot Springs

Panimavida Hot Springs

Panimavida Hot Springs

Located in the town of Panimavida, the Hot Springs is a traditional, family-oriented thermal area. It is found 43 miles (69 km) southeast of Talca and 12.5 miles (20 km) east of Linares, in the central pre-Andean region, the Seventh Region of Chile.

Panimavida is a typical, central region town that boasts a beautiful plaza with tall trees and a picturesque craft fair that features a special basket shop. This town possesses an excellent hotel and tourist infrastructure that accommodates all kinds of tastes and preferences, as well as your pocket.

The waters of Panimavida Hot Springs contain oligominerals, sulfates, and calcium, and are considered hyperthermic, averaging 89°F (32°C) in temperature. They offer temporary relief for arthritis, gout, cystitis, kidney stones and rheumatism. They also regulate circulation as well as cardiovascular and respiratory activity.

Because the city of Linares is so close to the hot springs, you should consider a visit here while you're enjoying your stay in Panimavida. This being one of the oldest cities in Chile, there are many architectural attractions. They include the Museum of Fine Arts, an old colonial style house built in 1762 and headquarters of the Board of Government between 1813 and 1814, and the traditional City Market.

Other places of interest include the spectacular Colbun and Machicura Reservoirs, that supply electric energy to a large part of Chile.
You could also plan a visit to the Maule Lagoon, known for its trout, where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, and water skiing.

The towns of Yerbas Buenas and Rari also deserve some attention. Rari is famous for its exclusive and original crafts made with a horse's mane.

When to go: Year round.
How to get there: Santiago-Linares along Route 5 South, 188 miles (300 km). From Linares, take the road towards Colbún, 13 miles (20 km) to the hot springs.
From Talca to Linares 30 miles (49 km), from Linares, 13 miles heading east until you arrive to the hot springs along the road that leads to Colbun. Check out our flights section.
