Torres del Paine and Southern Patagonia

Almost at the end of the Patagonia in the extreme south of Chile you will find Torres del Paine, a place of great natural attractions among them the surprising "cuernos del Paine" (Horns of Paine) which have given the region international recognition.

The Torres del Paine National Park, rich in animals and Patagonian species, is the ideal environment for activities such as trekking, climbing, mountaineering, and eco-tourism.  Throughout the year people from around the world come to climb the steep Torres del Paine, or to traverse the park on a course to the blue ice of the Grey Glacier.

The Milodon Cave National Monument, in the vicinity of the park, is home to vestiges of a prehistoric animal called the Milodon. It's unique characteristics offer a touch of magic to the place.

In this zone, the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers are found in the fjord Ultima Esperanza (Last Hope), accessible by sea.  At this time it is possible to visit penguin reserves close to Punta Arenas, such as the penguin sanctuary of Isla Magdalena, or the penguins of Bahia Pecket.
