Incluye los atractivos más espectaculares de las Islas Shetland del Sur y la Península Antártica. La expedición se orienta hacia la observación de la vida silvestre, enmarcado en el impresionante escenario formado por estrechos canales.
The Chilean Antarctic territory is located 990 km. to the South of Punta Arenas covering an area 1.250.000 square km. having very fragmented coastline segments. At its center there's Tierra de O'Higgins peninsula which is, actually, the continuation of Los Andes Mountain Range, also called "Antartandes".
Chilean sovereignty over Antartica rests assured due the existence of a number of base camps and refuges, such as the Presidente Frei Base, the Presidente Frei Meterological Center and Villa Las Estrellas, where numerous Chilean families live commited to scientific research. The latter is the major populated center throught Antartica and only receives 1200 people through the year, most of them tourists.
Tourism in Antartica demands being able to enjoy the view of the landscape and the acuatic life within.
Though it seems a frozen wasteland, the Chilean Antartic Territory has many minning resources that can be exploited. Moreover, it features the exploitation of krill, a native crustacean used as whale's food.
