The decision by the Ma’u Henua Indigenous Community to adjust the ticket prices responds to the need to maintain a balance between tourism development and the conservation of Rapa Nui’s heritage.
Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, is one of the most enigmatic and captivating destinations in Chile and the entire world. This small island territory located in the Pacific Ocean attracts thousands of travelers every year who come to admire its majestic moai, those stone statues that have defied time and remain the greatest symbol of the Rapa Nui culture. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Rapa Nui not only dazzles with its landscapes, white sand beaches, and extinct volcanoes, but also with its deep history, its people, and traditions that remain alive through the centuries
Visiting the island is a unique journey, allowing you to walk among the ancient ahu where the moai rest, follow trails leading to sacred places like Orongo and Rano Raraku, and witness a legacy that still moves visitors today. Every sunrise at Ahu Tongariki or sunset at Tahai connects visitors to the island’s spiritual energy. And it is precisely to protect all this heritage that the Indigenous Community Ma’u Henua, which manages the Rapa Nui National Park, recently announced an adjustment in the entry ticket prices, aiming to continue conserving this unique treasure and ensuring its sustainability for future generations
Official statement
Below is the full official statement issued by the Indigenous Community Ma’u Henua on May 19, 2025:
"The Indigenous Community Ma’u Henua, administrator of the Rapa Nui National Park, informs the local, national, and international community that starting October 1, 2025, there will be an adjustment in the entry ticket prices to the Park.
The new prices will be as follows:
National adult tourist: $40,000 CLP
National child tourist: $20,000 CLP
International adult tourist: $100 USD
International child tourist: $40 USD
The ticket will keep the same conditions: it will be valid for 10 consecutive days from the date of issue and will allow a single entry to Rano Raraku and Orongo.
This adjustment was approved according to participation mechanisms established by the community and will allow us to strengthen the conservation of archaeological sites, improve infrastructure, optimize tourism services, enhance environmental control, and create more employment opportunities for the Rapa Nui community. Likewise, this adjustment aligns us with current access standards in other international parks and heritage destinations.
Tickets purchased by tour operators before October 1 will remain valid until the corresponding folios run out. Once fully used or after the mentioned date, tickets will be sold at the new informed price.
We appreciate your understanding and continuous support of our work as custodians of this ancestral territory".
An adjustment for the community
According to the Indigenous Community Ma’u Henua, this change seeks to strengthen the conservation of archaeological sites, improve tourism services and infrastructure, and create more jobs for the Rapa Nui community, reaffirming the commitment that tourism on Rapa Nui remains sustainable and beneficial for all
In addition, tickets purchased before October 1 will remain valid until stock runs out, allowing tour operators and travelers who already have their trips planned to keep their tickets active without being affected by the immediate adjustment
Advantages of the entry ticket to Rapa Nui National Park
Travelers arriving after October 1, 2025, should consider these new prices when planning their visit, but they will still enjoy the same ticket conditions: 10 consecutive days to explore the park’s main attractions, including a single entry to iconic places such as Rano Raraku, where dozens of unfinished moai lie, and Orongo, the ancient ceremonial center located on the edge of the Rano Kau volcano, famous for the birdman competition
Beyond these sites, the island offers unique settings like Ahu Tongariki, where 15 moai stand in line facing the ocean, or Anakena beach, famous for its turquoise waters and white sands guarded by the moai of Ahu Nau Nau
The Rapa Nui National Park is sacred territory for its inhabitants, a living testimony of a people who have resisted the passage of time and who keep a profound respect for their ancestors and nature. That’s why tourists are also invited to be responsible travelers, respect the regulations, care for the trails, and understand the true cultural value of the sites they visit. Discover Rapa Nui!
