Malalcahuello, the perfect forest village for winter getaways

Surrounded by snowy peaks, the Lonquimay volcano and hundreds of thousand-year-old Araucarias. That´s the place in which the Corralco Mountain Resort and Ski Center is located. One of the most beautiful in Chile and a favorite for nature lovers. In its terrains it is possible to slide down snowy slopes to reach evergreen forests that rest in the foothills of the Andes Mountain Range. Inserted in the Malalcahuello National Reserve - Nalcas, Corralco  is renowned for its uncrowded slopes, its excellent track for beginners and its backcountry terrain reserved only for experienced skiers.

Located 120 km far from Temuco and 37 km far from Curacautín in the Araucanía region, the resort has 54 rooms, common spaces with views of the Lonquimay volcano and a restaurant that mixes autochthonous recipes with modern gastronomy.

But skiing is not all that can be done in the Andean foothills. At the foot of the Corralco ski center is the Malalcahuello hotel, an area that is characterized by its huge indoor pool of thermal waters that spring naturally from the land. The relaxing waters of 37 degrees of temperature were declared a "source of curative water" by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Chile, and are complemented perfectly by the spa services that include relaxing massages, sauna, hydromassage, and air beds. The complex has 27 rooms with cozy mountain decor and bungalows for groups of up to 6 people.

The hotel has its doors open both in winter and in summer and is that in the area you can do hundreds of activities when the snow has melted. Among them are considered canopy, rappel, kayak, mountain bike, trekking and ascents to the Lonquimay volcano.

If you have time you can go to the Conguillio National Park, climb the Llaima volcano or trek in the famous Sierra Nevada trail, the last touch to finish with the perfect escape in the Chilean Araucanía.
