In five days you can enjoy San Pedro de Atacama and its surroundings. You will visit Moon Valley, altiplanic (Miscanti and Miñiques) lagoons, the famous Tatio Geysers, and another atractives in the area.

Itinerary

Day 1: Moon Valley

The Moon Valley and the death Valley are characterized by its mountains and sand reliefs. Here are hundreds of tourists to observe the sunset in the middle of the Atacama desert.

We will pick up in your hotel in San Pedro of Atacama at 15:00 approximately and we are going to travel to the Salt Mountains. In the road we turn to know the route from where is carrying the sulphur from San Pedro of Atacama.

Then we pass through the Valley of the dinosaurs and the death Valley, to see a spectacular panoramic view of the Atacama desert. Continue on route to Moon Valley , where there are geological formations that are the result of successive folding of the Earth's crust.

During the sunset, the mountains are painted of gold colors and reddish. There we will visit the salt sculpture known as Las Tres Marias, the old salt fields, the mysterious caves and the great Dune.

Day 2: Quitor Pukara - Aldea de Tulor

Come and visit the archaeological remains in Pukará de Quitor and Aldea de Tulor in San Pedro de Atacama. These are pre-Inca constructions that date back to the 12th century and can still be seen in the middle of the Atacama Desert.

Departure from your hotel at approximately 09:00 am.

We will head towards the Pukará Quitor, a fortress built by "atacameños" to protect themselves from the Spanish invasion.

We continue to atacameña farm, where we´ll visit a family that lives of the agriculture and the cattle ranch to taste some local products that are typical of the zone.

Later we will visit the Tulor Village, where the first villages of the region settled and is one of the oldest sedimentary archaeological sites in the north of Chile.

Once in San Pedro de Atacama we will visit the main church that was built and preserved in adobe, cactus, chañar and algarrobo wood.

13:30: Return to your hotel.

Day 3: Toconao - Lagunas Altiplánicas (Miscanti & Miñiques) - Socaire

Come and discover the best landscapes of the desert of Atacama. Visit the lagoons altiplanic (Miscanti and Miñiques), Toconao and Socaire, that are villages typical of the Highlands Chilean.

We leave from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama at approximately 8:30 am to head for the high plateau lagoons.

We are going to take the road to the Chilean highlands to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons at 4,200 m.s.n.m at the base of the volcanoes of the Andes mountain range. Through its paths we will delight in a landscape of contrasts: Dry desert hills, snow-capped volcanoes and clear waters of the lagoons.

Then enjoy lunch in the village of Socaire, a town that stands out for its traditional cuisine. Finally, before returning, we are visiting Toconao. This village was built with Liparite stone and has a human data of more than 12 thousand years old. We will visit its central square where the bell tower was built in 1750 adobe and cactus wood. We are also visiting the Church of San Lucas which is National Monument, just like the belfry.

Day 4: Cejar Lagoon - Ojos del Salar and Tebinquinche lagoon

We leave from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama at approximately 15:30 hours and we will go to Ojos del Salar which are two deep freshwater lagoons.

Then we will go to the Cejar lagoon, which is characterized by its large amount of salt. 

With a view to the Salar de Atacama, you can enjoy a cocktail with pisco sour in Tebinquinche lagoon.

21.30 hours: We will be back at your hotel.

Day 5: Tatio Geysers - Machuca

The Geysers of Tatio are the highest geothermal field in the world. It knows the immense fumarolas that emanate of the earth. Afterwards we will visit Machuca in the chilean altiplano.

Departure from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama at 5:00 am approximately and will begin to climb by the Chilean altiplano to reach the Geysers of Tatio, the highest geometric field of the world.

Arrive to this place shortly before 7:00 am, when the fumaroles of steam emerge with more force, reaching temperatures on them 85°C. After watching this show, we will start the descent towards San Pedro de Atacama. In the road we will pass through Machuca which is a village of 20 houses and a church that opens for the tourists.

13.30: Return to your hotel.
