The Viña Montes was born to create quality wines not only in Chile but in the rest of the world. It is located in the Colchagua Valley and is part of the Wine Route.
The Viña Montes is part of the Colchagua Valley Wine Route and is known for producing wines recognized in Chile and in the rest of the world.
The idea of making a vineyard arose in 1987 when two partners Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray felt the need to produce quality wines. That's how they joined other partners, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand and formed the Viña Montes.
The vineyard was one of the first to bet on the Apalta Valley and to plant vineyards on the slopes of the hills. They were also the first to plant Syrah in the Colchagua Valley.
You can visit the vineyard through a tour where they explain the whole process of wine that begins with the manual harvest and then transfer the grapes in 15 kilos troughs to their gravitational winery where the best premium wines are created. In the barrel cellar, in the shape of an amphitheater, they rest for months listening to Gregorian chants during the 24 hours.
The vineyards are crossed, wine tasting is done and the history of the Montes vineyard and the Wine Route is known.
