Ancud is one of the most important cities of Chiloe. It receives hundreds of tourists who come to visit the South of Chile. This city is the gateway to the island of Chiloé, has rectangular shape and is surrounded by sea on three sides, while the fourth is bordered by Dalcahue and Quemchi.

Ancud is a Chilean City and commune located in the Chiloé province, in Los Lagos Region. It is located 1.132 km from Santiago. It is the first important urban settlement in Chiloé, coming from the North (via Chacao), and the second of all the archipelago after the provincial capital, Castro. The commune has an approximately rectangular form and is surrounded by the sea on three of its sides, while the fourth side borders with he communes of Dalcahue and Quemchi.
