The Blooming Desert is a natural phenomenon that occurs mainly in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions. During years with unusual rainfall, the arid landscape transforms between August and October, when an incredible variety of flowers appears.
To experience the Blooming Desert, we head north, about two hours from La Serena. During the excursion, we will take gentle walks that allow us to appreciate flowers of various colors as we move toward the coast, identifying species such as añañucas, suspiros, huillis, azulillos, and malvillas, among others. We will also have the opportunity to spot guanacos and foxes along the way. Afterwards, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before taking one last gentle walk and returning to La Serena.
