This route will take you to learn about the cultural, agricultural, and religious heritage of Chiloé, as you visit the towns of Dalcahue, Curaco de Vélez, and Achao, where you will visit World Heritage churches, small but interesting museums, typical gastronomy, and the craft fair of Dalcahue, known for hosting 100% Chiloé products and considered one of the most important in the archipelago.
Introducing ourselves through secondary roads, you can understand why the FAO has recognized Chiloé as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS), the work of many generations of farmers who developed ingenious practices for the use and conservation of natural resources. An example is the cultivation of more than 200 varieties of native potatoes. Finally, and depending on the time of year, we will stop at one of the viewpoints offered by the route, to appreciate some resident birds such as black-necked swans and different species of cormorants and some migratory birds, among which stand out the straight-billed curlew (between November and March) and the attractive Chilean flamingo (between May and August).
