The madness around the total solar eclipse of July 2019 has been unleashed. The amazing astronomical event will be visible from the Coquimbo region in our country, and is already causing positive effects on tourism in the area.

La Serena, Coquimbo, La Higuera, Paihuano and Vicuña have been cataloged as the best places in the world to see the solar eclipse. On July 2, 2019, all eyes will be on Chile, a country that already stands out for its clear skies in the field of astrotourism and that will greatly benefit from this natural phenomenon.

The event has been compared with the sighting of comet Halley in 1986, it is so much the commotion that is causing, that great part of the hotels of the region of Coquimbo and Valle del Elqui have run out of rooms available for the date.

It is estimated that more than half a million visitors will arrive, including scientists and foreign tourists. The demand is so great that according to the mayor of Vicuña, Rafael Vera, even soccer fields have been reserved so that groups of scientists can settle with camping tents to study the eclipse.
