- Traveling from Canada to Chile? Air Canada launches direct flight between Montreal and Santiago
Air Canada is launching this new route due to the growing demand for flights between North and South America, and also to position Chile as a key destination in its flight network.
Canada and Chile will be closer than ever. Starting December 16, 2025, Air Canada will launch a long-awaited direct connection between Montreal and Santiago, as part of an ambitious expansion strategy into Latin America for the 2025-2026 winter season. This new route marks a milestone for travelers from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and represents a significant step in the airline’s consolidation in Chile.
From the urban heart of Santiago, with its vibrant cultural scene, museums, viewpoint hills, and exquisite gastronomy, to the otherworldly landscapes of San Pedro de Atacama, the driest desert in the world, Chile offers a diversity of destinations that captivate travelers.
With this new direct route, Canadians will also be able to discover the mystical Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in the middle of the Pacific, where the enigmatic moái statues tell ancestral stories under an unparalleled starry sky. And for lovers of extreme nature, Torres del Paine in the Chilean Patagonia offers one of the world’s most breathtaking national parks, with glaciers, mountains, and turquoise lakes perfect for trekking and adventure.
Montreal - Santiago flight frequency and schedules
According to Report News, the flight between Montreal and Santiago will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) at 5:50 PM and arriving at Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) at 7:00 AM the next day. On the return leg, the flight will depart Santiago on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 8:35 AM, arriving in Montreal at 5:45 PM.
For Canadian travelers, the new connection represents a privileged opportunity to explore the south of the American continent, and especially, the landscapes, flavors, and Chilean culture, right during the Southern Hemisphere summer season. On the other hand, Chileans will gain direct access to Montreal, one of the most vibrant and multicultural cities in Canada, from where they can easily connect to more than 80 additional destinations in North America, Europe, and Asia, thanks to Air Canada’s extensive route map.
Moreover, beyond passenger transport, Air Canada’s growth into the southern continent also involves strengthening its air cargo business. The “New Frontiers” strategic plan, which names this expansion, aims to consolidate the company’s presence in markets with strong development potential, combining tourism, international trade, and global connectivity.
Thanks to this vision, Chile positions itself not only as an attractive point for its tourism potential, but also as a key logistics partner for cargo distribution between South America and other world regions. With its modern airport facilities and strategic geographic location, Santiago becomes an ideal platform for the airline’s expansion goals.
The fact that flights are already available for purchase through Air Canada’s official website, contact centers, and travel agencies, reflects the importance of the Chilean market in the airline’s immediate plans.
Chile and Canada: united by air
In recent years, the relationship between Canada and Chile has strengthened across multiple areas: economic, tourism, academic, and cultural. With this new direct air route from Montreal to Santiago, a smoother path opens for all kinds of exchanges, especially during peak tourist months. For frequent travelers, families living in both countries, or those eager to discover new cultures, the news is a true celebration.
The Montreal - Santiago flight adds to the already established Toronto - Santiago route, further strengthening Air Canada’s presence in the Chilean capital. This expansion not only doubles travel opportunities, but also reinforces a much stronger route network between the two countries.
Between Canada and Chile, there is an air bridge that brings cultures together, shortens distances, and broadens horizons. In a world where international mobility is becoming increasingly essential to global development, this Air Canada announcement is more than just an increase in flight frequency: it’s an invitation to admire, connect, and discover the wonders and natural treasures of Chile.
