Tour Ahu Akivi - Easter Island

  • Departure: 15:00
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Pickup / Dropoff: Hotel in Isla de Pascua

Make the most of your days in Easter Island and do not miss an unforgettable afternoon getting to know the most beautiful ceremonial centers of Rapa Nui culture.

We'll pick you up at your hotel at 15:00pm to head to the famous Akivi ahu, the most important ceremonial center on the island also known as a celestial observatory. Composed of seven moais, it is one of the few ceremonial centers that are located in the interior of the island and not on the coast. Of homogeneous design, the seven statues measure 4 meters high and have a particularity that can only be seen in this place on the island: they face exactly the sunset during the spring equinox and turn their backs at dawn during the autumn equinox. It is a place of enormous cultural interest and definitely a must of the island.

Then we will continue our journey towards Uri to Urenga, the four-handed moai restored by William Mulloy in 1976. Located on a platform 13 meters long by four meters wide, the moai looks towards where the sun rises during the winter solstice (June 21) and its platform is aligned with two neighboring hills, Maunga Mataengo and Maunga Traina, plus two smaller nearby ahu. For this reason, it is believed that it was an important solar observatory in the Rapa Nui calendar.

Our last destination will be the quarry of Puna Pau, an important source of red volcanic rock that was used to sculpt the headdresses of the moai. It is deduced that this material was used because it was easy to carve and because of its distinctive reddish color.

Finally we will climb to the top of the quarry, from where we will see the small crater of Puna Pau and the splendid views of Hanga Roa and the west coast of the island.

After four hours of travel, we will drop you off at your hotel.

We will pick you up at your accommodation at 9.00 am to take the route that will take us to know several moais and the famous Anakena beach.

In addition, we will take advantage of the day to know the Rano Raraku quarry, where the moais were formerly sculpted. As it is said on the island, in that area there are 400 moai among those found on the slopes of the quarry and buried underground.

  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Pickup / Dropoff: Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama

We start very early, heading 90 km from San Pedro to the Río Grande basin, where we reach the Rainbow Valley. Its name is given due to the variety of colors that can be seen in the valley's hills; earthy tones, reds, beige, greens, whites, and yellows. All combined with traces of white salt and a blue sky. • Departure: 07:00
  • Duration: 12 hours
  • Includes: Lunch

Venture into the prettiest scenery the Eight World Wonder has to offer. Milodón’s Cave will only be the lead-up to the beauties we’ll enjoy in Torres Del Paine National park, like the Great Waterfall, the Grey glacier and the Nordenskjöld and Pehoé lakes.

We will depart from your hotel in Puerto Natales heading towards Torres del Paine National Park. Our first stop will be the Milodon Cave, a Natural Monument made up of three caves and a rock formation called the "Devil's Chair." This site is significant because, many years ago, remains of skin and bones from an extinct animal were discovered here: the Mylodon Darwini, a large herbivorous creature that went extinct thousands of years ago.

We will continue our journey until we reach the entrance gate of the park, the Laguna Amarga sector. From there, with clear skies, we will be able to capture a beautiful postcard of the Torres del Paine, the main attraction of the park and part of the Paine Mountain Range. Later, we will stop to admire the "Cuernos del Paine," a granite massif, known for the black color at the tips of its peaks, a result of contact with the magma from deep inside the Earth, which shaped it thousands of years ago.

We will then walk towards "Salto Grande," the largest waterfall in the park, approximately 15 meters high. It is known for its power to drain Lake Nordenskjold and feed Lake Pehoé.

Afterward, we will travel along the internal road, passing by the Paine River, where we will get our first clear view of the Cuernos del Paine. Continuing past Lake Pehoe, we will take a short walk to reach Salto Grande. In front of Lake Nordenskjold, we will reach the Cuernos viewpoint, where a 2-hour hike will offer you the most incredible view of the Cuernos del Paine and let you appreciate the vibrant colors and breathtaking nature surrounding the area.

Continuing on, the journey will take us to the Grey Lake sector, where we will take a short walk along the beach to observe the beautiful icebergs floating in the cold waters of the lake that shares the same name. At this point, you'll have some time to enjoy lunch with the most stunning views. After a few hours, we will return to Puerto Natales.

The first glacier we will see is the Balmaceda Glacier, which descends from the mountain of the same name and is remarkable for its significant retreat. It is said that ten years ago, the icefall reached the water level. We will dock at Puerto Toro and walk about one kilometer through a beautiful native forest mainly consisting of Coigües, Murtilla de Magallanes, Chaura, and many lichens covering trunks and rocks.
