If you want to know in depth the Cerro Castillo National Reserve, we offer you a 7-day trekking circuit where you will see glaciers, valleys and forests.
Day 1: Balmaceda-Coyhaique
We wait for you at the Balmaceda airport and then go to the base camp located in Coyhaique. During the afternoon you can tour the city and prepare everything you need for trekking.
Day 2: Coyhaique - Cerro Castillo National Reserve
At 9:30 am we drive along the Carretera Austral to the Cerro Castillo National Reserve, located 75 kilometers from Coyhaique. The trail begins in the Horquetas sector, where we will begin with a small talk about the Cerro Castillo National Reserve, which is a mountain with a height of 2,675 / 8,776 ft. Here we are going to start the first day of trekking which is 15.3 kilometers. We are going to pass through lush nothofagus forests and crystal clear water streams.
In the night we lodge in the camp the Turbio.
Day 3: Trekking to El Bosque Camp
We will begin the trekking at 8:30 am and we will advance to the second camp called El Bosque, located at a distance of 9.8 kilometers. On the way you can see different glaciers and the Turbio valley.
Day 4: Trekking to La Tetera Camp
We begin the trekking at 8:30 a.m. The trail is completely mountainous until you reach the glacier and Cerro Castillo lagoon, where we will have a privileged view. Then we advance to La Tetera camp.
Day 5: Trekking to the Porters Camp
We begin the trekking at 8:30 a.m. This day we can appreciate a wonderful view of the mountain ranges of the Andes mountain range. We are able to see the Ibañez river and the valley that surrounds it. This hike is the most challenging of all, (5.2 kilometers) with steep slopes and rocky roads.
Then we arrive to the Carrier camp where we will lodge that night.
Day 6: Descent of Cerro Castillo
We begin the trekking at 8:30 am and descend the mountains towards Villa Cerro Castillo. This route has a distance of 10 kilometers until we reach the starting point.
Return to Coyhaique along the Carretera Austral to the base camp in Coyhaique.
Day 7: Coyhaique - Balmaceda Airport
At the time of your flight, we take you to Balmaceda airport. In case you travel during the afternoon, you will have the morning free to do some excursion, horseback riding or city tour for Coyhaique for an additional cost.
- Accommodation in a tent for 6 nights.
- Full board food service: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Vegetarians or other dietary needs have to inform at the time of acquiring the program.
- Land transportation service of the program.
- All the activities mentioned in the program (necessary security equipment, guides, tickets to reservations).
- Complete camping equipment (tents for two and three people, awning, inflatable mattresses, kitchen equipment).
- Security and emergency elements, VHF radio, satellite phone, complete kit.
- Specialized guides with training in outdoor leadership schools (OutwardBound, Nols) certified in intensive first aid courses in wild WFR areas (wildernessfirst respond) by specialized entities such as Nols Medicine Institute and ECSI. Rescue white water certification, Tandem Rescate and SarChile.

Recommendations
