Horseback riding is a way of going on excursions across the country, of course, riding a horse. Since these excursions may last several days, mules or extra horses are usually taken, as well as a complete equipment with everything a rider may need.
This activity was born from the ancient need of moving from one place to another, which made people spent their holidays on the back of a horse. Riders use their own saddles or the ones provided by the organization with which the expedition is booked. The excursions can be made in groups guided by specialized operators, or also independently.

Horseback Riding in Chile

Chile's geography offers different landscapes and climates:from the Elqui Valley in the 'Small North' to Torres del Paine National Park in Magallanes. The alternatives range from short trips in beaches, camp sites, and parks, to week long expeditions in remote areas, with great tourist attractions.
For riding in beaches and campsites, the tour must be hired in the same location and it is charged per hour or per distance. In general. the terms are agreed with the owners of the horses. For excursions in parks it is highly recommended to hire a guide that knows the area in which the tour will take place. If you don't have a horse, book with an agency that offers tours on the area you want to, and make sure meals, accommodation, guides, and insurance are included.

Also, you must choose a tour according to your personal capabilities. We recommed wearing a hat and sunscreen lotion, for prolonged sun exposure is dangerous.

  • Make fire only in designated areas
  • Do not take flora or fauna specimens with you

  • Do not scratch or paint rocks. No one needs to know you've been there
