APEC 2019 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum 16 to 17 of November, 2019

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, also known as APEC for its meaning in English (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), will be held in Santiago, Chile on November 16 and 17, 2019. Topics to be discussed in the forum They are: Digital Society, Integration 4.0, Sustainable Growth and Women, SMEs and Inclusive Growth.The event includes activities outside the Metropolitan Region in the cities of Antofagasta, La Serena, Valparaíso, Concepción and Puerto Varas.

APEC is the most important forum that promotes growth, technical and economic cooperation, trade facilitation and liberalization and investment among countries in the Asia Pacific region. Created in 1989, its long-term objective is the creation of a free trade area in Asia Pacific.

The implementation of APEC is structured on the basis of large blocks of meetings: High Representatives (SOM); Meetings of the Working Groups; Sectorial Ministerial meetings and High Level meetings; Academic and business meetings (ABAC) and CEO Summit; those that end with the APEC Leaders Summit, which usually takes place in November.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum is composed of 21 members, which are called “economies” and which include: Australia; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Chile; China; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; South Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; Philippines; Russia; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; United States and Vietnam.
