Travel program to get to know the penguins, glaciers and gauchos of Patagonia. We will visit Tierra del Fuego and sail through the channels and fjords of the southernmost area of the world on the Stella Australis cruise.
Day 1: Reception in Punta Arenas
Transfer: Airport Hotel in Punta Arenas
We will be waiting for you at the Punta Arenas airport and we will take you to the Hotel Cabo de Hornos.
Day 2: Porvenir - King Penguins - Río Grande
What you will visit:
- 1 Cape Horn
We cross the Strait of Magellan and visit the Porvenir Museum. There we are visiting the king penguin colony.
At 7:00 p.m. we arrive at the Grande Hotel, located in Rio Grande.
Dinner and accommodation in the same hotel.
Day 3: Gauchos - Ushuaia
What you will visit:
- 1 Ushuaia
During the morning we will have an experience with gauchos from Patagonia with a country barbecue in Estancia Las Hermanas and then we will arrive in Ushuaia at 4:30 p.m.
5:30 pm: Boarding the cruise Stella Australis or Via Australis.
Day 4: Cape Horn - Wulaia Bay
What you will visit:
- 1 Bahía Wulaia
We cross the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to the Cabo de Hornos National Park, where we disembark if the weather permits.
Cape Horn was discovered in 1616 and was a navigation route that linked the Pacific with the Atlantic Ocean. Today it is known as the end of the world route and was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in June 2005.
There we walk to the viewpoint through the Magellan forest where lengas, coigües, cinnamon and ferns grow, among other species of Tierra del Fuego.
In the afternoon we visit Wulaia Bay, where we disembark and walk through the Magellan forest of lengas, coigües, canelos and ferns until we reach the viewpoint.
Day 5: Águila Glacier - Glaciar Garibaldi
What you will visit:
- 1 Tierra del Fuego
In the morning we will sail through the Northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark in the Pía fjord. We will make an excursion to the viewpoint from where you can see the homonymous glacier, whose main language extends from the top of the mountain range to the sea. During the afternoon we will enter the Garibaldi fjord, to make a trek through the cold Patagonian jungle, going up to the base of a waterfall of glacial origin. From this point we can appreciate an impressive landscape. For those who remain on board, the Captain will head towards the Garibaldi Glacier to appreciate the panoramic view from the outer decks
Day 6: Glaciar Aguila - Glaciar Condor
What you will visit:
- 1 Tierra del Fuego
During this day you are going to visit the condor glacier located on the Cockburn Canal.
Day 7: Magdalena Island- Punta Arenas
What you will visit:
- 1 Isla Magdalena
In the early morning we arrive at Magdalena Island if the weather conditions allow it. This island is home to an immense colony of Magellanic penguins.
In the months of April and September, this excursion is replaced by a landing on Marta Island where we can see sea lions from the zodiac boats.
Once we finish our tour, we arrive in Punta Arenas at approximately 11:30 am.
