Meet the tranquil lakes and rivers around the Simpson River National Reserve on this kayak ride accompanied by professionals. You will not need experience to connect with the nature of Chilean Patagonia.

  • Departure: 07:30
  • Duration: Full day
  • Includes: Lunch
  • Pickup / Dropoff: Coyhaique's main square

What you will visit:

  • 1 Rio Simpson National Reserve
  • 2 Carretera Austral Sur

We will meet in the Plaza de Coyhaique (main square) at 07:30 a.m. to take the road to Puerto Aysén. On the way we will make a brief break in the waterfall of the Virgin and visit the Simpson River National Reserve, making a stop at the visitor center to learn about the flora of the region.

We will continue to Lake Los Palos, passing through Puerto Aysén. Our hosts will receive us and give us a brief training session after which we will follow the route to Laguna Los Palos. Once there we will begin the activity practicing the techniques for 20 minutes in the lagoon before entering the Los Palos river. The route lasts approximately 90 minutes, depending on variables such as the rhythm of the paddlers and the wind conditions.

In the lagoon we will be abñe to enjoy the vegetation and birds typical of the Patagonian area. Little by little we will learn the rhythm in the kayas and be able to advance easily until we reach the source of the Los Palos river. From there the landscape becomes a little more leafy and mystical, creating an adventure similar to the one lived by the Chonos and Kawésqar in times past.

During the excursion we will be able to see the "forest of arrayanes", a small place on the river, where we will stop and get to know its origin. We will continue paddling until the last part of the route, where the river is usually a little more confluent and muddy, increasing the adrenaline of the more daring. We will finish our excursion on the shores of the ecotourism campsite La Pancha.

Before returning to Coyhaique we will enjoy a homemade lunch with the group and the owners of the house.
