On this excursion, we'll walk through an evergreen forest to finish in the white blueish of Exploradores Glaciar in the most austral corner of the world.

At the agreed time, we will depart from Puerto Río Tranquilo towards the Valle Exploradores refuge, where we will prepare our technical equipment and listen to a brief introductory talk given by our expert guides.

Upon arrival and after some instructions, we will enter the trail across rocky terrain, where we must walk. We will pass through a forest and walk on rocks again. Here, we will stop to put on gaiters and crampons, receive instructions, and practice. After that, we will walk on the ice. We will spend approximately 2 hours on the ice, experiencing the various shapes, sounds, and colors of the glacier, before beginning the return journey. We will reach the starting trail.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to Puerto Tranquilo.

Recommendations

  • Trekking boots, high cane, semi-rigid sole (very important).
  • Layers of clothing (1st coat / fleece, windbreaker / water, long pants and trouser covers in case of rain)

  • A snack and energy snacks for the day.
  • A wide-mouth water bottle, to fill with water from the glacier.
  • A change of clothes for rainy days is suggested.
  • Small backpack to move your belongings.
