We traveled to Puerto Montt to get to know its main attractions. We meet with its people, their customs and a whole history that began thousands of years ago. You can taste rich seafood that comes directly from the sea and meet women artisans who have dedicated their lives to manual labor.

A visit to the famous Angelmó market is a must stop for anyone visiting the Los Lagos Region. It is a sector located on the coastal edge of Puerto Montt where you can taste the best dishes with sea products such as sea urchins, crabs, hake and curantos to the pot.

But it is not only an exquisite dish, but also there are craft stalls where you can find different items handmade by artisans in the area, carved in wood, and wool products of thousands of colors. Vests, scarves, gloves, socks and hats are some of the products that you will find in Angelmó.

This place was a strategic point during the 20's as it connected Patagonia with the whole American continent. From there, the products that came from the southernmost part of the world were distributed.

Angelmó can be visited on a half day tour that also offers a city tour through the city of Puerto Montt where you will meet the center, its main church and learn the history of European colonization.

Other activities you can do:

The most recommended is to stay in Puerto Varas, on the shores of Lake Llanquihue with an incredible view of the volcano Osorno. Puerto Montt is located only 22 kilometers from Puerto Varas so you can easily visit in the morning.

In Puerto Varas you will also find other activities that can be done as the tour to Saltos de Petrohué and Osorno volcano, tours to Frutillar, Puerto Octay or a navigation on Lake Todos los Santos.

For those who have never done the Andean Cross, you can not leave Puerto Varas without doing this excursion, where you will cross to Bariloche in Argentina.
