The Stella Australis cruise takes us to discover the best landscapes of Tierra del Fuego. We depart from Ushuaia and Cabo de Hornos. 8 days sailing to visit Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia.
Day 1: Ushuaia
What you will visit:
- 1 Ushuaia
We’ll wait for you from 10:00 to 16:00 hrs. in San Martín 409, Ushuaia, to check in.
17:30: Once aboard the Stella Australis, there’ll be a welcome cocktail where you’ll get to meet the captain and the crew.
Then, we’ll sail heading south to cross some fueguino channels, such as Beagle, going through the Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
Day 2: Cabo de Hornos - Wulaia Bay
What you will visit:
- 1 Bahía Wulaia
- 2 Cape Horn
We’ll cross the Murray channel and the Nassau bay all the way to the Cape Horn National Park, where we’ll disembark if the weather allows it. If that’s the case, we’ll walk to the viewpoint through the Magellan forest in which lenga beech, guindo, cinnamon trees, ferns, and several different species grow in Tierra del Fuego.
In the afternoon, we’ll go to Wulaia bay, where we’ll disembark and walk through the Magellan forest to the viewpoint, to enjoy an incomparable visual spectacle.
Day 3: Alberto de Agostini National Park
What you will visit:
- 1 Alberto de Agostini National Park
We’ll sail through the Brecknock, Occasion, Cockburn and Magdalena channels to enter the Seno Agostini in the heart of the Darwin Cordillera.
In the afternoon, we’ll disembark on a beach near the Eagle Glacier, where we’ll walk around a lake surrounded by mountains until we get in front of the glacier. We’ll get to meet the Patagonian forest and the movements that molded this landscape.
Day 4: Magdalena island - Punta Arenas
What you will visit:
- 1 Isla Magdalena
If the weather allows it, we’ll disembark in Magdalena Island first thing in the morning to walk toward the lighthouse, from which we’ll see a huge colony of Magellan penguins.
Then, we’ll return to the ship to sail to Punta Arenas.
11:30 am: We will arrive in Punta Arenas and we can visit the city.
18:00 hrs: We’ll get embark again at 18:00 hrs. to continue our sailing.
In September and April, Magdalena Island is replaced by a disembark in Marta Island, where you can visit the South American sea wolves from the Zodiac boats.
Day 5: Ainsworth Bay - Tuckers Islets
What you will visit:
- 1 Ainsworth Bay
We’ll start the day by sailing through the Seno Almirantazgo until we get to Ainsworth bay, where we’ll disembark to walk and see the Marinelli Glacier, a beaver dam and the Magellan forest. Besides that, we’ll try to see elephant seals from the beach.
We’ll return to the ship to continue sailing. After lunch, we’ll tour the Tuckers Islets aboard the Zodiacs, from which we’ll see Magellan penguins and cormorants.
*In September and April, the Tuckers Islets are replaced by a walk close to a glacier in Brookers bay.
Day 6: Pía glacier - Los Glaciares avenue
What you will visit:
- 1 The Glaciers avenue
We’ll sailin Stella Australis through the northeast arm of the Beagle channel until the Pia fjord, to disembark near the glacier of the same name.
We’ll walk to the viewpoint, from which we’ll see the impressive mountain range that causes the glacier. Later, we’ll get on the ship again to sail to Glacier Avenue.
Day 7: Wulaia Bay - Cabo de Hornos
What you will visit:
- 1 Bahía Wulaia
- 2 Cape Horn
We’ll start the day by disembarking in Wulaia bay, where the native Yaghan used to live, and walking in the middle of the Magellan forest until we reach the viewpoint.
In the afternoon, we’ll sail along the Murray channel and Nassau bay until we get to the Cape Horn National Park, where we’ll disembark if the weather allows it.
Day 8: Ushuaia
What you will visit:
- 1 Ushuaia
8:30 am: We’ll be in Ushuaia, the most important Argentinean city of Tierra del Fuego.
- 7 nights aboard the Stella Australis cruise, cabin of your choice
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board
- Bar open on enabled hours
- Land excursions
- Entertainment on board
