Next to the oldest ski center in the Americas, and according to local legends, the lagoon holds a tragic love story. It is said that the Inca warrior Illi Yupanqui was deeply in love with the beautiful princess Kora-llé, the most stunning woman in the empire. They decided to marry and chose a summit by a crystal-clear lagoon as the wedding location. Tragically, the princess fell into the abyss and died instantly. Devastated by grief, Illi Yupanqui had her body placed in the depths of the lagoon. Legend has it that, as her body sank, the waters turned a magical emerald green—the color of the princess’s eyes.

A magical place to discover the wonders of the Central Andes.

In addition to this rich cultural heritage, you’ll encounter unique flora and fauna of the Andean mountains, and communities that still preserve Chilean traditions—such as arrieros (muleteers) and gauchos seen along the way.

You’ll also have the chance to visit the ruins of an old railway that once crossed the Andes, each corner echoing forgotten stories.
